Dots: A new BMCC handheld test & review

PostTue Jan 22, 2013 4:04 pm

Hey, everyone - I wanted to test out the handheld ability of the BMCC. I used a shoulder rig and a 35mm lens for most of it. I didn't find the rolling shutter/ jello / etc to be worse than the FS100. What do you think?

Here is my review of the camera. Thanks for watching and reading!

Hi Kyle: Very funny little film. :D

I like how all your actors' skin looks, black & white. Hooray for dynamic range & color science!

I agree this was a "good" test of rolling shutter. I might have preferred that a few of the shots were shot steadier, less shaky, but if that's what you were going for, it's all good.

(What does the actor say as he runs away up the hill?)

Cheers.

Good work. Great seeing some well put together narrative stuff with dialogue.
I'm also curious how you recorded the audio for it.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I recorded the sound in my FS100 and matched the audio in post. It will be much easier when I get a preamp for the BMCC!
