Yup. That one is on the list already.

Where does one go or who should we contact to get an update on what lenses that are adding support for? I have the Canon 10-22 and no electronic control of the iris. I am using ND filters for now, and this lens actually looks pretty darn good wide open. However, I'd really like to know if this is being addressed in the next firmware. I don't want to shoot wide open all the time.

Thanks for any help.

I see that both Canon EF lenses I have will have this problem. As such, thinking I will have to rent until this is fixed. Kind of frustrating. Does anyone have any idea when these problems will be fixed?

Blackmagic are no doubt working on this for future updates. They don't share timelines. So we'll only know when they release the update.

Reverse engineering the EF mount is complex, even Metabones took a while to get a wide range of lenses to work on their smart adaptor (about 4 firmware revisions) and they only had lens communications to deal with.

This does not help you but that's how it is right now.

I have the 17-40mm L that's collecting dust for the same reason. Tho I have various other lenses that do work.

The lens is also usable on 5D at 15.5 - 16mm . The reason could be its designed for crop sensor and the BMCC works well with FF sensor glass. Anyone have the Tokina 16-28 designed for FF? That should focus on the entire zoom range and has less distortion

Just got the Tamron SP AF 10-24mm. Everything works. Definitely a bit fisheye at 10, but not disturbingly so. I wish it was faster, but at $450 its hard to beat.

Questions

PostWed Mar 06, 2013 7:47 pm

Questions

I have the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM.
Now the aperture of the lens does not work.
I am going to be taking a short film and
I will use the "Prores Film mode
Should I buy Sigma 8-16 or Sigma 10-20?

Additional questions
I have to sell the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is better?
Or waiting for a firmware update should I do?

Hello,
I have the Tamron SP AF 17-50 f2.8 XR VC and it works (even stabilization).
Weird thing is that it shows f2.6 as the maximum aperture on the camera screen.

I have also tested the Tokina 16-28 f2.8 and couldn't get infinity focus.
At f2.8 I couldn't get to a mere 4 meters.

Just got my camera today. The aperture on my 24-70 f2.8L V1 works. I ordered the lens from Willoughby's (through Amazon) in April 2011 if that means anything.

I can also verify that the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 works properly.

My other lenses all act as expected according to this list. I haven't yet had the chance to test the 11-16 infinity focus.

I got mine in about 2006/7 i think. I wonder if being part of an older batch is the reason mine doesn't work..?

A couple of lenses that I haven't seen on the list:

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS (Mk I, I believe) works fine. IS works as intended (not great - but that has nothing to do with the BMCC!). Aperture seems to function fine.

Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM works fine. Also works with 1.4x EF Extender II. IS works fine. Aperture seems to function fine.

Thanks for maintaining the list, Adam! Much appreciated.

Another one not working:

Canon EF 28 mm/1.8 - Aperture not changing, wrong f-stop on display,

which is quite sad, because it´s a nice glass...

Sorry, mistake corrected, wrong focal length.

@Robert
It would be very interesting to compare the performance (compatibility with BMCC is ok for all of these) of
a) Rokinon 24mm 1.4
b) Canon 24mm 1.4
c) Zeiss 25mm 2.0.

As I think for EF these 3 lenses are the ones the allow for best shallow depth of field.
I have not found any alternatives to these lenses except not real alternatives like pretty good 2.8 zoom lenses. Actually one has to get one of these or settle for 2.8

I understand renting these is probably quite expensive.
But that would be really interesting for everyone with EF mount.

The 35mm and 80mm is supposed to be very good. But the 24mm is still missing coverage.
Many people say it is too soft until 4.0 but I do not know that.

Thanks.

Probably not been tested just yet, its semi-rare

Canon 35-80mm POWER ZOOM EF Lens

Electronic Zoom Function works fine, but as it has not manual focus - it is very much useless.

Iris control works fine too.

Nikon are full manual on the BMCC. So it does not matter what firmware the camera is running as it does not control the lens.

Just wanted to reiterate some of the other posts in this thread - it would really great if the list, and future confirmations from BMCC users, were more specific on versions of lenses as well.
From reading through, the 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM versions 1 and 2 both work.
And another poster who submitted confirmations later stated that all his lenses were version 2.
Many thanks,

Why would you use an adapter with confirmation chip? The BMCC wouldn't give you a confirmation "beep" anyway?

The Tamron AF 28-300MM F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical (IF) works fine.
Wouldn't really recommend buying the lens for film stuff though, got the lens to take on a trip with my DLSR, figured I try it on the BMCC and it works fine, even IS.

So weird, the aperture didnt show up and had no control of the iris the first time I popped it on, tried it again a day later and worked perfectly :?: not complaining lol just hope it isn't a every once in a while type thing.

Just a thought. Did you power down the camera before changing the lens?

Update: Updated firmware just in case. The auto iris button works occasionally. Seems to have a mind of its own. They will bounce wide open, then bounce to f/22. I guess the auto is quirky that way. Perhaps it's just operator error. The forward and back buttons for iris seem to be working now.
