Some of the stuff I've shot with the bmcc over the last months. It's a good mix of both raw and Prores.

I received my camera over at Washington DC, so I took it out for a day around the city and got some shots of all the historical landmarks and the city people.

Shot Prores, lightly graded to bring back original colors but not stylized.

I've had the BMCC for about almost two weeks now, but didn't get a chance to shoot something small until this Saturday. Nothing special, but I at least wanted to try that delicious raw highlight handling. Damn, pulling those blinds down in Resolve is something magical...

After suffering one of the worst springs in years I had a hard time find two good mornings to get some nice footage with lots of dynamic range. It's almost summer and I finally finished my project.

NICE FOOTAGE

PostThu May 23, 2013 7:52 am

Although I need to see, next time I rent it if i can get an additional viewfinder, I loved this camera, this is shot in raw.
The raw picture is then rendered in resolve with bmd film lut, with the full range, and then graded in After Effects..
Let me know what you think!

My first music video shot with the BMCC. Probably my 35th music video ever.

Fruit, paint and sparkly overlays for Allie's R&B influenced 'Cross My Mind'.

PostFri May 24, 2013 6:35 pm

Some people might say that its soft, but I like it. Its not a video clip, its a improvised one take shot with sync audio. Hope you like it

We shot 4 TV spots, small series for hiv prevention social campaign with BMC.

All 4 was shot in one day in cine mode prorez. Edited in premiere and graded in DaVinci.

I got to say grading was really fast and easy for me as skin tones were good from the beginning
and i did not have to go mad in post. Really love the color science.

Here you can see them if you follow the links:

Working 11 hours with the "small" BMCC on a shoulder rig (which sums up to almost 20 pounds) was very exhausting...But I still had a heck of a time! :)
Enjoy!

These were really funny. I can't believe you shot them all in one day. Were these locations right next door or were you on a stage.
Prorez looks great too, I really liked your grade.

We shot in our town some 30 minutes drive in city from location to location,
but we used practical locations that we just lit and filmed.
So we did not have to furnish them or dismantle etc.

But the day was from 09 am to 11 pm so not the shortest day but we managed nicely
and had even some nice time for breaks and lunch and dinner :D

But thanks!

Loved the grade! Best looking Prores i´ve seen.
May i ask what kind of lighting was used? It appears to be mostly chimera diffused, is that right?

Congratulations!

Yes mostly diffused and in the office bounced from white walls etc.

We try to have this soft natural day light look if possible.

Here is a swimsuit editorial promo I shot on Monday.

Collaborating with photographer James Lightbown we built a jungle set in a plant wholesaler's green house. Lighting was a single 2.5k HMI.

We shot 12 outfits in a day, shooting stills and video.

Shot on cinemodded Carl Zeiss ZF.2 (35/2 50/1.4) an a Canon 24-105 f4 L.

Shot in ProRes Film. Edit in FCPX and grade in Resolve.

Grade was done to match the photography. Would love to have had more time on it but overall I'm happy with the end result.

Warning - may not be safe for work.

Rainy Day with a little VFX

PostMon Jun 03, 2013 6:11 pm

Just shot some footage out of my window to test the bmcc for simple VFX, nothing extraordinary.
Please download the big 80mb version below if you want to see details.

The mountain is pretty far away (therefore it lacks a bit of sharpness - but not as bad the vimeo compression).
Hope you like it.
Shot with Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Canon 17-55 @ 55mm.

This is another shot with the BMCC and a Sigma 20mm 1.8 with a Hoya polarizer on it.
If interested, please download the 2400x1350 version on vimeo. Vimeo just allows 1 HD Version per week. Or watch youtu.be/8Rrqdhjecv8 or .

It's a VFX quicktest to examine the camera for different situations.
It's handheld and post-stabilized with the warp stabilizer (that's why some front elements got messed up).
I didn't pay much attention to keying. Anybody experienced might find that out quickly.
Anybody knows a good alternative to keylight 1.2?

It is also filmed out of a window.
I was trying to get Mount Everest a bit closer to germany.
Intentionally I just wanted to do a quick "handheld" sky replacement test.

Watch out for the little plane flying on the horizon. :)

Just a steadicam-shot with the BMCC. Soon I can show a couple of films made with the BMCC. (This shot is for a short film, only need couple of secs from this shot. To be sure I shoot the whole movement :)....)

Middle of part II when the singer is using his voice in a more melodic style reminded me of Jim Morrison and much of their slow instrumental buildup reminds me of The Doors. Along way to go though to reincarnate it all if that's a direction they are going.
