I liked everything up to 1:23, that part looks video-ish in my opinion. The rest looks cinematic and awesome! Good job.

Thank you Rick & Denny. Yeah, those shots I did some special color work in the highlights to make the shot more exciting. Especially since the sun was behind clouds the whole day. I'm loving grading BRAW. It really doesn't feel any different from CDNG for me. Blackmagic did a great job with the raw codec. And, the new G2 is absolutely awesome.

I recently shot a no-budget short film for a friend of mine. He already started editing and I will post a teaser/trailer as soon as it's finished. The stills are graded in Resolve but it is not finished yet. I used my Ursa Mini 4.6k in RAW 3:/1 (I was hoping for BRAW but... you have to work with what you have) and a Tamron 24-70mm G2 lens (mostly between 24 and 45mm).

Hey everyone; here's my reel. Most of the projects directed by me (BAD TEMPER, Ezra In exile, See me See you See us) were shot with the Ursa mini 4.6. CHANGE, and Ridin Round were colored and co-DP'd by me. All were colored in Resolve.

I wanted to edit my reel as if it was a narrative story. I hope you enjoy!

Jeffrey, nicely done reel. May I suggest that your titles use dark drop shadows so they’re a bit easier to read when the background is near white?

Thanks Rick. It was a great thrill for all of us who worked on the film. Comedy is really hard to get right. A bunch of things needs to come together to get it to work. You need a funny script, good actors and good timing. Then you need to capture it. Lastly, you need a good editor with a sense of humor. Even with all that, you never really know how the audience will react to the film on screen until you present it. When it works it is a beautiful thing.

BTW we also used the P4K on some of the shots. What a great camera. Really great for the car interior shots and capturing action like the dogs running around that would be tough to get using the UM46.

As an indie filmmaker, I can tell you that success doesn't come from how much money you make from a project, the reward comes from seeing your audience enjoy your work and when doing a comedy, seeing them roll in the ailes!

People say that if the material is good and the actors are good, you can shoot with an iPhone and make it work. I think it's true. But let's face it, if you are able to use truly cinematic tools at a price point that fits the indie budget,it really adds to the experience for viewers. Hats off to Blackmagic for making that a really.

Exactly. I work hard (and stress about it because every project has so eggy new for me to learn) and then a client’s smile takes away the exhaustion and I’m good to go again.

Latest model video. I have several more to come since this is one of the models I shot at the recent Model & Photographers Meetup this last weekend. I have a conference this weekend so I'll have to finish editing and grading the others next week. I've shared a few clips on the Facebook Group for URSA Mini Users and on Instagram.

I'm part of a small 3-person in-house corporate video team. We recently held an educational meeting to help teach people how best to work with us on projects. Filling out a brief, while we all probably know this should be the simplest task, has been a spicy subject. We decided to lean into it for comic relief...

Hola Roberto!

Diego

Hi Rick,

I'm sorry it took so long to reply, I've been quite busy. It's not a teaser, it's more like a proof of concept. What you are telling me about the music film intrigues me! Hope we get to see/hear some of it soon.

rick.lang wrote:Well that’s making more sense. Didn’t realize that was a teaser. The narrative film I’m working on is using a combination of period music and new music created for the film. We’re not involved with that yet, but also being the editor, I’ll have a lot of influence over how we mix the genres. Music and foley breathe life into a film. Hoping BMD’s Resolve team adds their foley library soon so I can work on that.

Hello fellow filmmakers!

We recently launched the first mini season of a micro mystery, suspense and horror web series.

It was all shot with the URSA Mini Pro G1 and lit with three Aputure Panels. Sound was mostly foley recorded on location. It was all shot in a NO budget, DIY, one man band kind of scenario. I also wrote all the music for it.

Since it was all shot with the UMP i thought you'd like to watch it:

Ep01:

Ep02:

Ep03:

I really hope you enjoy it!

rick.lang wrote:Well that’s making more sense.

The schedule there has slipped as we are not getting the contemporary music so I’ve been asked to add more period music. Still hopeful the Resolve Sound Library appears soon, but there are many other sound libraries I can draw from. I’ve been thinking about how I want to do the re-edit.

Hi Guys

Here's a trailer for a short film I just made - filmed in 11 hours or so for under £300, using the original Pocket Camera. No lights, sometimes only one lens (I forgot to bring 2 lenses with me to a certain scene or two, whoops). Even though it's newbie standard, Blackmagic cameras really help to make the stuff look so nice. Music is my own (yes I am not Beethoven) but what the hell, had to get the bug out of the system, some how. Learned a lot funny enough on the job and overall it's great to be out and about filming with great cameras like this. Don't bother with any constructive criticisms, just tell me it's the best thing you've ever seen and you want to pay £2,000,000 for the rights. Anything else will be a bonus. :)

Here is a cool “behind the scenes” clip during our Reel Productions workshop at Boston Casting. We used BM, including UM46, BMPC4K, BMPCC, BMCC.

We have had a lot of fun producing short films for aspiring actors, which they can then use as acting reels to attract acting jobs.

First teaser for our short film shot with the BMPCC4K. The film was shot in Finnish lapland and it plunges the viewer into the deepest recesses of the human mind. Any feedback would be much appreciated!
