BMCC Ground noise on headphone jack.

PostSat Jun 25, 2016 7:10 am

Hi everybody,
I have a minor problem with my BMCC. For some reason there is some noise on the headphone output. In the recording its later on completly gone, more a monitoring issue.
I can work around it without any problems, but its not very helpful considering that we monitor audio to her slight noise in the recording... :|
Anyone with simillar experiences?

Unfortunately the BMCC's and BMPC4K'C headphone output is indeed extremely noisy. As both had plenty of firmware-updates that issued both bigger and smaller problems, it's safe to say, that the noisy headphone port won't or can't be changed.

On the other hand, the audio inputs are not really good as well, so I'd suggest to use an external recorder with headphone-output and a line-output to connect to the BMCC.
I use a Zoom H5 for that setup and got some very usable interview-footage straight in camera. In some situations when the subjects were very quiet or I needed to do some further correction, I took the backup-recording from the Zoom, as it's still way better quality.
