c-box and SSD other than Samsung ?

PostMon Oct 17, 2016 6:05 pm

I have a c-box , never used it it was a gift from a client who never bought his URSA
I made a 5V power cable and trying to make it works with a Kingston SSD it's a 6 Gb/s 256 GB KC400 serie
the cable has the right polarity, positive on the inside negative on the outside, feed with a 5V 2 amp supply
SSD is 5V 1 amp

the camera doesn't see the drive at all , always show no card, the disk was format ExFat and tested on a computer , working fine

anyone tried something OTHER than the Samsung 850 drive in that box ?

Yup, SanDisk works fine. But its not overpriced cbox (more than 500 USD). Its just a selfmade SSD adapter with casual PC SSD dock (30 EUR) with CF dummies (120 EUR) and 2 EUR Switcher with light diode (50 cent).

a simple diode on the c-box would have showed me that no power was getting in

working nice witht the Kingston SSD that I bought, doing raw uncompressed at 24 fps which is what I need

all the docking stations I have seen that supports sata have E sata connectors on them
E sata = External Sata

Yes but not for individual disk, if you have a 2 dock disks you have a single esata so not the kind of things needed here

The one on the photo several post before for example doesn't have esata

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I'm using a C-Box system with a phone charger (2.1V output, 5V power) and 2x 128GB Samsung 850 PRO SSDs and the camera isn't recognizing them. It's just blank under "CFast1" and "CFast2".

Never had this problem before... any help please or point me in the right direction? :?

I believe the c-box needs 12-24vdc. Check its specs.

put the drives on a computer first, kill the partitions and do new ones in EXFAT and try them again on the camera

my first prototyping of the CBOX was with a car phone charger
my new version had a 5 amp 9 to 30V input 5V out DC-DC converter with a status led inside a small box glued to the side of the CBOX and the outputs are soldered on the CBOX connector

the original CBOX was 5V input anything above that could kill the hard drives

the later version (with the new name) I think has an internal dc converter

Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps the op's power supply bit the dust.
