SDI Out issue

PostThu Feb 28, 2013 3:35 am

Is any BNC cable suitable for SDI or is there a specific choice? I bought the SmallHD AC7 and it was blinking out and freezing with a standard 6' BNC. Thanks.

The blinking could be the SmallHD not recognizing the signal
Is it set for DSLR scaling by chance?

You may need HD-SDI cable

I think if it's 75ohm you should be okay. That's what i got and it seems to work fine going to the hyperdeck shuttle.

I also have just bought the AC7 though I haven't tried it yet, still waiting for my shipment.

Any help is appreciated on this issue, I still haven't bought any connector cables.

I have the AC7 LED SDI and this cable works great with my BMCC: http://www.markertek.com/Cables/Video-C ... NC10.xhtml

The terminating impedance (50 or 75 Ohm) is not relevant for the cable, only for couplings and splitters, so theoretically, any BNC cable should work, no matter the source.

Austin - great referral! Perfect. I'm awaiting the return of my DP1's upgrade to DP1x. This is definitely the cable!

I called SmallHD this morning and explained my problem. They are overnighting a new monitor to me here at the hotel. No cost! And sending a return shipping ticket for the first monitor when I get home. Awesome customer service! Fingers crossed the problem is not the SDI port on the camera.
