Tokina 11-16 f2.8 Iris Control

PostMon Sep 03, 2012 12:10 am

I have done a bit of digging but can't seem to find an answer. Will I have manual iris control of the Tokina with the BMCC.
Any info would be great.
Cheers

You can control the iris of an AF or AF-S lens using the <-- and --> buttons on the back of the camera. It goes up and down in 1/3 stop increments.

Hi John,

First can I say thank you inspiring me with your footage, to dive into the bmcc world..! (technically I believe you owe me £6k now - but we'll discuss that later! grin)

Can I just ask, as someone who probably has access to very expensive and fast glass - did the bmcc shoot well and did you enjoy working with the relatively inexpensive glass like the above mentioned Tokina and the Canon ef-s type lenses you used? Being a low budged shooter I'd like some reassurance that this camera doesn't only shoot/handle well with a £10k lens on it.?

Obviously the test footage shared with us shows the cameras talents - just perhaps a few words about the glass??

Thanks again,

You mean "EF or EF-S". AF and AF-S are Nikon lenses and can't be controlled via the Canon mount.

Thanks for the info John, I'm down in Kiama just south of you. I have pre- ordered and paid for my camera and would love to catch up at some point for a chat (after delivery of course) if you have any time free.

Thanks again

I intentionally went with the Nikon mount 11-16 so that I would have a smooth iris (using Novoflex adapter) rather than 1/3 stop jumps.

Hello John,

How can we have a reference of what f / stop is the iris?

For example, to turn on the camera is f/5.6?

Greetings and congratulations on your work from Mexico.
