Audio VUs Available for Cinema Camera!

PostSat Mar 02, 2013 7:57 pm

Not trying to be a wiseass here but...
Seen a lot of posts about needing VUs on the camera. Well if you Plug that nifty Thunderbolt cable into a laptop and run UltraScope you've already got High Quality Digital VUs along with a stereo phase display. Way better than anything they could clutter up the on-camera display with.
What we do on location is run 0db 1 khz test tone through mixer into the BMDCC and monitor levels on the UltraScope. Once you've leveled the audio chain you just trim input levels as needed.
Hope this helps.

When the camera is shoulder mounted, you're not going to be able to see the screen anyhow.

User a monitor/evf that has audio meters visible on screen ...
