If your looking at getting Rokinon Lenses..

PostThu Mar 07, 2013 5:11 pm

So for the first time I really took the time to test the sharpness of my lenses. This was partly due to the fact that I recently learned that aperture settings in the high teens and beyond can make my image soft on smaller sensor cameras like the BMCC.

So for those shopping around for lenses and eyeing the Rokinon line, I thought I would share what I have discovered. This is specifically geared towards their sharpness at different aperture levels. This is not a detailed review, just a little bit of info I am throwing out there just in case somebody can benefit from it.

These are all Rokinon lenses:

8mm Cine T3.5 [T5.6 - T16] (sweet spot)

14mm F2.8 [F4 - F9] (sweet spot)

24mm Cine T1.5 [T2.8 - T9] (sweet Spot)

35mm F1.4 [F2 - F9] (Just barely soft at 1.4. Usable if you really need the extra light.)

Good information as I have been eyeing a coupe of those lenses.

Thanks for sharing!

Sharper where? At f4?

Don't forget the 24-105 has IS. I've found it to be a really nice tool when handheld.
