CFast 2.0 cards (256 GB) for $289

PostThu Apr 27, 2017 8:38 am

Hey,

on Instagram an account called EgoDisk followed me and liked all my URSA videos and photos of my URSA Mini 4.6 camera. So apparently they are selling CFast 2.0 cards for a very cheap price, but of course I'm a little sceptical, because it seems like too good of a deal. Does anyone here have any experience with this "new" company?

Personally I use the Komputerbay 3700X 256GB CFast from Amazon at $280. The Komputerbay can do 4.6K raw at 30fps, not sure about higher frame rates, and seem to have a higher write speed rating (495) than the ego disk (420).

The EgoDisk looks like they have better branding with slick packaging. I feel like I'm putting a 90s zip disk in my URSA with the Komputerbay cards.

Not sure if there is a limitation regarding recording 30 fps and higher for lossless raw but it appears they have tested their wares on an URSA Mini 4.6K:

"Full HD, 4K and 4.6K Video Recording
Tested Under Extreme Conditions

SUPPORTS Lossless 4.6K at 24 & 25 fps"

For 60fps in RAW one would have to record in Dual Card Mode anyway I suppose.

True, but to do 60 fps in dual record mode, the cards need to handle 30 fps in single record mode. Still very good that they are posting their test results and most people are likely using 24/25 fps in nearly all their clips.
