The BMCC's HD-SDI output is 1080p (progressive), not 1080psf or 1080i (interlaced). The monitor must be compatible with 1080p in the BMCC's video frame rates of 23.98 fps, 24 fps, 25 fps, 29.97 fps, and 30 fps. Refer to the manufacturer's specs for their monitor.
Most HD-SDI to HDMI converters typically only handle the HD-SDI to HDMI conversion, and don't convert progressive to PsF or interlaced. For use with the BMCC a converter must be compatible with a 1080p source and video frame rates of 23.98 fps, 24 fps, 25 fps, 29.97 fps, and 30 fps
Many monitors can handle a variety of sources, including 1080p @ 23.98 fps, 24 fps, 25 fps, 29.97 fps, and 30 fps. Look at the manufacturer's specs to see what they offer.
