Can I use the bmpc4k ac-adapter on bmcc?

PostTue May 02, 2017 3:58 pm

Can I use the same ac-adapter for bmpcc-4k on the cinema camera without any problem? I have bought a used bmcc in february, but the ac-adapter for it is not the same as bmpcc-4k (not sure if what I have even is for the cinema camera) and the cable are a little broken. I have seen unboxing videos for it on youtube and the ac-adapter for bmcc and bmpcc-4k look the same there.

Read the specs on the wall wart of each. Is it providing the same level of power?

For the bmpc-4k it says

input: 100-240v ~50-60hz 67-92VA 08A MAX
Output: DC 12v = 2.5A

For the cinema camera

Input: AC~100-240V 50W 50/60Hz
Output: DC = 12V 3.0A

It looks the same except the DC 12v = 2.5A and DC = 12V 3.0A

So, I would say no, the DC amp. Output of the BMPC 4K is not enough for the Cinema camera requirements. A power source with a minim. Of 3.0A (amps) is needed, you can use one with higher amp. rating, but not smaller.
