UMP - B4 lens adapter vignetting

PostTue May 09, 2017 5:19 pm

I had an ursa mini previously, which had no visible vignetting from the b4 lens mount. I thought this would be the same with the mini pro. I purchased recently and installed the new mount which had a similar procedure to generation one. Now, I get a big visible ring around my footage, am I missing something? Is there a setting to center cut the sensor or something? Right now it's not very good. I'll try my other b4 lenses when I can get to the studio and pick them up, but i'd like to know if there's anything I can do to fix this?

It has the same optics and the same sensor so it should be no different.
The mounts have slightly different spacing and a different amount of screws but the optics are identical as is the sensor.

When you put on the mount you need to set resolution to 2K or lower and set it to 'Window' the sensor.
This is the same for URSA Mini and URSA Mini Pro.

Also, make sure out are using a 2/3rds B4 lens, and not a smaller 1/2" B4 lens.

Sounds like you may even have the Record set to raw UHD rather than 2K or HD. Or are you recording ProRes with full sensor readout? As Tim mentioned, ensure you are windowing the sensor on the Mini Pro.

What lens(es) are you using with the B4 mount?

You know, I had been using b4 mounts on other BMD cameras and I think a DP I work with set up the older mini. I'll try these tips. Wish they were a part of the manual, thanks for the fast response, I'll check it out in the AM and let you guys know what I find.

Well, a cameraperson should notice when the angle looks so different …
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thanks for your input, Uli.

Ok, I can't find any indication of where this window setting is supposed to be, I think I've been through the entire menu as far as I know, sorry to be a bother but anyone have a tip on how to find it?

I'm using an older Canon and Fujinon (not super high quality) I purchased off eBay to take my first step into B4 lenses. They both have doublers and are pretty standard SD lenses (I know, they were cheap, saving up for a nice newer one for 4k).
