Choosing Handle and Articulating Arm

PostTue May 23, 2017 3:03 pm

Hi everybody. I need some help choosing a handle and an articulating arm for my monitor. So I hope somebody more experienced can recommend a few products. With the handle im probably choosing;

Handle

http://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-long-l ... -1732.html
Its easy to take off completely, but it looks more fragile and i can ONLY connect the articulating arm to the actual handle, which is a bit high. I like the idea of taking it off completely quickly, because i will use the mini on a steadicam (maybe also ronin later on) quite often.
Or...

There are more (and more stable) places to connect the articulating arm with the 7 inch monitor to, but it's heavier and im worried that that top plate is covering the ventilator too much.

90% of the time my monitor will be on the left, simulating what i have with the big URSA. Most of the time i want the monitor at lens height, but sometimes higher.

1) Which one would YOU take? Should i worry about the vents?

Articulating Arm
I think i should spend a bit more on the arm, because i don't want it to fall apart after a month and i need to be flexible with the monitor position. Im putting my own shoulder rig together (which i will NOT use very often) and im not buying a viewfinder yet. Instead i will just extend that monitor forward a little so i can look straight into it. 100+$ are ok. But i would also like to avoid spending 300-500$ on just an arm.

Bright Tangerine Titan Arm with additional accessories if needed. Built like a tank to hold a car.

What do you think about this wooden camera one;

I was thinking of either attaching it to top of this handle

or buy the cheese plate version so i have more placed to connect it to.

If you don't want to use the URSA ⅜" hole to connect to the camera body, Wooden Camera is likely good. I think I'd go with the Titan though and make it work. Read the details:
