Ursa Mini Pro - White Screen of Death

PostWed Jun 07, 2017 1:36 am

Hey,

Just looking for any insight any other owners or Blackmagic might have into an issue I've encountered twice using the Mini Pro.

I'll power on the camera, open the LCD monitor and it will be white. The display overlay information will still show up but the screen is otherwise displaying white and sometimes white with red, glitch-y looking lines or blocks. I've tried multiple restarts, unplugging/replugging power and nothing. Then at some point 10-15 minutes powered down, a restart will show the screen normally with my image on it.

Faulty unit? possible firmware/software fix? User error?

Thanks

Assuming this doesn't occur just after a firmware update, this sounds like faulty unit. One day it will always be white. Call your region's BMD Support, but you might just return the camera to your retailer if it's a very recent purchase.

Correct you are, sir. It seems to be always white now.
Unfortunately, the retailer won't take it back since it's been almost 3 weeks.

The retailer may not take it back but if you'll send it in to BMD, get the RMA first, they will either fix or replace. Contact BMD customer service, on the website. They are very very good at responding quickly and efficiently.

That's one retailer I would not use again, most dealers will honor a 30-day return if problems arise.

Hey, what happened with this? Mine started powering up with a white screen on a shoot tonight, and now it's dead - just glitches all over the screen, flashing white, etc.

Ruined a paid gig so not happy at all.

Just happened today to my UMPro while setting up for a paid gig... Bought the cam new 6-8 months ago and have had no problems until now... calling Blackmagic support.

Hmm,

Looks like a similar problem I had. Did your camera freeze? After those glitchy lines you described my UMP froze. And after shutdown it would’t boot for a few hours. I had to RMA’d my unit.
