Just making a little joke at the expense of people who think cameras should be able to shoot in the dark without lights.

Thanks again for sharing. Cheers.

Haha ;). This camera can also shoot nice in the dark, but most of the time I like to light the set :)!
Last week I shot in the dark with only a lantern as a light. I think I will post some shots soon.

I use the 'JVC DT-X71H Portable ProHD Monitor'. (Also possible to use HDMI). I like the monitor a lot, only using 2 batteries a day (sometimes 1). I also put this monitor on my steadycam.

My company mostly creates TV commercials and help young film makers make movies at no charge.
Because of this we need something that can be setup fast and get in and get out. This setup is what is working best for us. We will ad the Pocket Cam when it arrives to sit on the slider and leave the MFT BMCC on the Jib.

Okay, I'll bite. Here's my latest rigging configuration on my BMCC MFT. I'm actually showing this exact rig tonight (6/19/13) in Hollywood at the LACPUG event (lafcpug.org) as I'm presenting about all the BMD cameras. But this rig you see here is based on the need for ENG style shooting (super extreme focal range, and all the other added bonuses of real video lenses), but in cinematic form. This is especially critical for our BMW documentary where anything can happen, and I need extreme focal range to cover it as it happens. This rig accomplishes that. I've been rigging our Cinema Cameras for about a year now, and this is by far the greatest rig I've come up with yet (for our particular needs), where control, adaptability, flexibility, and where video AND audio quality are recorded to their fullest potential. It's not a small or lightweight rig by any means, but neither are any full size cinema style camera rigs anyway. We usually keep our other BMCC fairly unrigged so that we can use that in a lightweight manner (jibs, steadicam, in-car, incognito, crawlers, POV, etc.). Join us at the event to see this rig in person, or stay tuned for a blog post (onerivermedia.com/blog) write up where I explain some of the bits and pieces, and why I'm using it in the manner it was rigged for. Oh and yes... the electronic rocker control for the zoom is fully functional! ;)

Great rig, Marco.
I have now occasion to thank you for "5d Mark III vs. BMCC" comparison, that was great and mind changing for me.

Could you tell us what lens is it?

Thanks

Just finished rigging my new BMCC MFT today. Mixing parts from several previous rigs that I had ever used for so many generation cams since Canon HV20. Only new part I bought today was top handle, the old one I used with 5DM2 could not hold up this beast weight.

Here my quick n dirty travel rig...

Image

Image

You'll notice the cheapo hacked top bar. I got the Ikan Blackfly. I like the simplicity of it and their BMCC botttom plate design. Plus it's quite scalable. Unfortunately, there was a packing error and I didn't receive the top plate/arms. Nice anodized aluminum with proper 1/4" holes. So I needed to improvise.

Also, since I wanted everything in one handhold kit, I wanted to mount the mixer on top. A definite downside to the Azden FMX22 is it's size. It's pretty tall. Sooooo, 15 washers and some longer screws and done. It all fits.

I really need to find some low profile 90 degree 1/4" plugs, because it's hard to get your hand on the left handle with a straight plug hooked up. For this trip, it'll do.

I'm going to weigh it tomorrow, but I think it's about 12lbs.

]This is my monopod rig. Weight limit is 5kgs, this set up just lands under, but I've had it with Canon's 70-200 but without the light and FF, which beefed it up to about 5.5kgs , and it still handled well enough.

Hey everyone. Here are a couple photos I took of the current setup of my BMCC w/ EF Mount. It is shown with Rokinon 24mm Cine, Rode NTG-2, and Kamerar Tank 2 cage, follow focus, matte box, and rails. My trusty H4n is back there too, along with the Switronix PB70 battery with quick release on the backside.

Image

Thanks to whoever first showed me the link to the cheesy cam website with this cage and accessories! I didn't even have to swap any rails out...I was able to use the ones that came with the Tank, and no modification was necessary. Awesome cage, solid feel for not much money.

Here's my BMCC rigged for narrative work. It's based on the form factor of the Element Technica Mantis. Pretty happy with it so far! Thinking about adding the Movcam minimal shoulder pad or maybe working out a quick-release, adjustable shoulderpad similar to the new one Zacuto has (or just getting the Zacuto).

Re: Show us your BMCC Rigs and Parts Setups

PostSat Aug 03, 2013 9:36 pm

I was orginaly thinking about getting the Switronix PB70 battery solution to go with my newly purchased BMCC, but I am now thinking of using a V mount solution instead. I have found this one by Tilta (http://www.cinegearpro.com/tilta-t-0501a-v-mount-power-distributor-kit-for-bmcc.html) and would like to be able to mount it on top of the camera via the rods but cant figure out how or what I need to make this happen? Just keeping it simple for now until I can afford a full on rig so I just want to be able to have the rails mounted on top of the camera so i can hook up the v mount plate!

Please help :D

Edit:
would these work?

Just got hooked up with a bunch of O'Connor gear. My EVF is alphatron and the monitor is a Marshall.

Finally after a long wait I have my camera and a setup I'm happy with. Having found the viewfactor cage I bought unsatisfactory for my needs as it got in the way of my follow focus when using certain lenses and difficulty mounting my evf without taking up a huge amount of top plate real estate I opted for some black magic specific berkey system parts and its been a perfect fit for me. The berkey stuff lets me mount my wooden camera evf mount in a better place because it has threaded holes in the front of the plate which the viewfactor does not. The berkey top handle is strong and takes up less room on the top plate. The berkey bottom plate holds the camera tight with no twist, can adjust rod height, and has a great design in letting airflow pass through the bottom vents.

I don't work for berkey but have used their stuff since my FS100 days and its top quality strong, light, and affordable. I thought a cage was the way to go , I was wrong. I should have went the berkey way first and saved myself some money. A huge fan. Check them out: http://www.berkeysystem.com/

Just a note if anyone is curious; on the bottom of the berkey bottom plate I mounted a energizer XP8000 battery. It comes with a cable that works with the camera and is in keeping with a shoulder rig that is light and easy to use.

Mico!

Awesome setup!

How much time do you get with this battery? Also, can you go a bit more into detail on how you mount it?

Thanks. Regarding battery time I'm going to have to get back to you as I haven't put it through a long days work yet. I have 4 of those batteries and I'm curious also as to how far they will get me in a day.

The bracket for the battery is made for a wireless audio receiver so it can serve two purposes. You can add a 15mm block to it that berkey makes and mount it on the back of the cam on the rods or you can attach it directly to berkey's shoulder pad, because their shoulder pad has a lot of mounting holes, in case you want to put a tripod plate on the bottom of the camera instead.

This is the bracket:

The sheer size and complexity of some of these rigs frighten me! I am starting to rig mine for my documentary work. I only shoot abroad so lightness is the main factor then simplicity of set up. I stopped using my follow focus and matte box due to this. I have to do some fast lens changes!
I will be shooting mostly with the Sigma 18-35 1.8, Tokina 11-16, 85 and 35 Rokinon primes and maybe take along my Canon zooms 70-200 etc. I only use hand-held for about 10% of my shooting. Rest is on my Miller tripod. I do like monopods but my light CF pod will need changing for a substantial one I think.

I am looking for advice on how to do this...

So far I just have the viewfactor cage attached. I would like side handles attached to the cage and I may try just a top handle. and see if just this works for hand-held shooting? I am looking for an evf to attach and then just a battery and that's it. I will use a Rode mic for scratch audio and record externally so that saves adding a recorder.
Thanks for your time.

Do you guys have preferred companies/sellers for your SDI and other cables?

I just yesterday got my Bebob light shoulder rig.

Felt really light and balanced on the shoulder.

This one.

I added there V plate battery adapter and 190v battery to last long.

Also attached Alphatron EVF on that rig.

Somehow the whole setup felt light and easy to use.

I'm still missing matt box and follow focus there but for now it is good.

Who here has used or owns a lanparte follow focus?

It has a budget price, hopefully not to budget quality?

In the usa I like http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/sdi ... /index.htm

From their website: For high-flex situations where cable will be repeatedly flexed in use (e.g., patch panels, mobile camera cable) or needs to easily drape and/or lie flat, we recommend the high-flex Belden 1505F.

I got a 20' 1505F and it's great. Nice easy to grip canare bnc connectors. Cable made in Seattle.
