Here's my BMCC EF mount as we have it configured on the show I'm currently working on. It's being used as a "crash cam" in a crash housing but mostly as a "run and gun" handheld mini cam. In this configuration it's got a 21mm Zeiss CP2 EF mount with Arri WCU-4 wireless follow focus and motor for iris. In a Wooden camera cage with an Anton Bauer Dionic for power, Gold mount plate for the battery has 2 power ports for accessories. Using TVLogic 5.6" for viewfinder.

This is my simple set up, I'm a newbie to outfitting myself so I'm starting small, I do have a shoulder rig, matte box, tripod and 2 addl lenses not pictured. But I do have a question, i don't think the seagate is a great option for in the field especially if I'm using the seagate as a drive to download to as well. Is there an in the field option I should be considering? Thanks for any advice

I use the Tilta Rig and love it.
I inverted my petroff 4x4 matte box to hang it from the top rails, and flipped the follow focus as well (sorry I am on the road and don't have a photo of the fully tricked out rig). This allows me to go rail-less on the bottom rails when I want to strip down. I find the carved wooden handles work great with a pneumatic waist belt support rod allowing me a great deal of control, yet an ease of floating into a shot. An added benefit, is I can tilt the left hand grip forward and have a good hand hold while still operating my follow focus single handed.

Its fun!

I'm loving it! I got it for two reasons...the Cartoni name, and the price point. It fit my budget, and can handle more than the weight I put on it (My rig hovers around 20lbs). The counterbalance is great, I can walk away from the camera at any angle and it wont have come crashing forward. Pans and tilts really smooth with plenty of control over tension

Here is the setup I just finished putting together (almost everything pictured):
BMCC MFT body, RedRockMicro Live EF to MFT adapter, 16x9 PL adapter with backfocus adjustment, Movcam MM1 Mattebox, Tilta dual side follow focus, Wooden Camera BMC Pro Quick Kit w/ Switronix Batteries, Small HD DP7 OLED Monitor and arm, Tilta offset shoulder pad, on a Manfrotto 526 head. Pictured with the Canon 70-200 f2.8. Also got the Rokinon 8/14/24/35/85mm.

Love it so far... glad I got the SmallHD to go with the camera. My shots were constantly underexposed using the BMCC's monitor.

It's missing a fairly vital part still, but here's my rig. I've buying it up from 2nd hand parts as I spot good deals over the last year.

Under the camera:

• Miller Carbon Tripod with DS-20 Head with a Quick Release Plate
• 2 x Dual Lanparte Carbon Fiber 300mm 15mm Rods
• The camera will be attached with the Berkey System BlackMagic Standard Baseplate

Behind the camera:

• The Switronix PB70-BMCC PowerBase 70 V-Mount Battery is attached with a Cheese Plate Mount
• Alphatron EVF-035W-3G EVF held up by their adjustable mount

In front of the camera:

• Letus Mattebox LTMB1 Standard Kit with their Universal Donut, their Varaible ND / Color Temp Filter Kit and their 4x5.6 ND Filter (I like the wheel on the top that lets you adjust the ND strength)
• RedRock Micro v2 Follow Focus with MicroWhip and HIR Lens Gears to go around the lenses

Also:

• Zoom H6 Sound Recorder with their Shotgun Microphone also

The Battery, Zoom H6 and the 15mm rods are the only new parts. I'll also be ordering a brushless gimbal from Aliexpress for handheld work / for a workout (by the sound of it!). I'll see how using the screen on the EVF (with the cover flipped up) works out on the gimbal, or if I'll need to get a bigger monitor at some point.

I guess this belongs here since the BM4K body is the same as the BMCC...

Here's the rig i've been using lately with the 4K body (used it on the music video using all 3 BMD cams posted recently). Mostly the new redrock cage and other bits of theirs which i'm REALLY liking! Before you ask, yes i'm left handed and have the pan handle that side, and it's tilted up because i had the camera in "low mode".







I have the monitor arm placed like this into the redrock monitor socket/arm so that i have more flexibility with monitor position, and when going to shoulder rig i have another point to insert the monitor arm into which makes swapping much faster. Currently its set so going from one to the other requires no change in the monitor arm to be positioned where i like for shoulder rig or tripod operating.



LOVE the cable management clips from redrock, i have 4 of these all around the rig. SO good. I was using velcro before but these are much faster and convenient when changing things around.



Also using the new redrock follow focus which has hard stops, and the marking point can be rotated and repositioned too.



As with my old rig where i had long arms, i'm using the new long redrock arms/hand grips. I like that the length keeps my elbows at 90 degrees and operating all day is much easier for me like this.



Front view; here you can see where the monitor arm gets inserted when switching to shoulder rig and you can see i'm still using the redrock offset mount like my last rig so that the arms are central to my body:



The redrock shoulder pad is on a manfrotto plate so i can slide the camera rig off the tripod, and slip the shoulder pad on and go straight on to my shoulders.



So going from tripod to shoulder is a case of moving the monitor, sliding on the arms/offset to the bottom rods, removing from tripod and sliding on shoulder pad. Not too bad, but i'm constantly trying to figure out how to make changes faster.

Sorry for all the pics! Really happy with the setup at the moment tho, i think the new redrock stuff looks and feels great. The cage is sturdy and the top handle and arm grips are actually more comfortable to me than my zacuto ones. I think the next piece on my wishlist is the microremote so i don't have to lift my arm to the follow focus, and to make it complete i'd love a Bright Tangerine mattebox to replace my old Shoot35 one!

Just got my camera last week, in testing mode:

Here's my setup thus far. The Alphatron is great except for my prescription glasses are so strong that I had to order the alternate dipter lens they offer, free of charge. They were super friendly and extremely fast in response to my request. I am using a Soud Devices MixPre for audio with a custom XLR to TRS sake from ProAudio LA. I fabricated my own bracket to mount the MixPre below the battery.

I've mostly finished rigging up my BMPC. Though I would still like to replace some cheaper migrated DSLR parts with more heavy duty bits, I would consider it now ready to handle a decent shoot. So I thought I'd share and contribute.

Working Rig:
-Wooden Camera Cage
-Zacuto Ultralite top handle and rods
-Manfrotto Sympla mattebox and baseplate (so horrible, to be replaced)
-SmallHD AC7 + Atomos Connect Converter
-Switronix PB70 Battery
-Redrock Carbon Rods (amazing!)
-Kamerar follow focus (to be replaced)

Handheld configuration:
-Genus Sherpa shoulder mount kit
-Manfrotto Lens support

Notes: Follow focus is works much better from the top rods vs bottom. I cannot emphasize how crappy the Manfrotto sympla mattebox setup is for this configuration. The top rods block the mattebox from opening for lens changes. The 15mm adaptor is heavy and very bulky and it blocks the sliding of the manfrotto plate to the 502 head if its isn't forward enough. The nun's knickers are impossible to fit around larger diameter 77mm lenses esp telescoping ones like the 24-70L. I cannot wait to change this asap.

Work in progress... home-made Blackmagic rig with V-lock battery plate, bolted on tripod plate and rods. With bracket for Tascam DR-60 recorder.

Still need a decent top handle and viewfinder but works pretty well so far; total cost just under £100.

Bmpcc rig with Chrosziel Dv-Balancer

My new rig is ready to go! I'm going to battle test it at a wedding tomorrow. Unlike my old tilta rig this one is nicely balanced. I can let go of the grips and it wont fall off my shoulder (the excellent Zacuto QR shoulder pad helps too but in all honest the EVF is absolutely essential).

Here my first interpretation of ENG RIG for BMPCC in order to build a "poorman FS7 setup" really compact and light....
From the definitive version the photos lack the counterweight which will be the Atomos Powerstation in order to have DC power both fot Camera and Cineroid EVF and the clamp for cables from Viewfactor still not arrived from California by now.
One of the two hadgrips has lanc command to power on and off the BMPPC.
Note the presence of the shoulder fascia to carry the camera and rig walking
All the components (rods, handgrips, junctions, baseplate) found on ebay and Alibaba apart from the shoulder pad from Shape, Canada and for the EVF arm from Edelkrone, Turkey
On the risht side of the Viewfactor cage there is the hotshoe for the microphone not shown in the pictures on the top an other hotshoe to fix the arm for Cineroid
In the next future I will show you the definitive version along with a second heavy duty version with external recorder and different setups

My own setups which have proved to be perfect for my needs, I use them for the majority of my productions, the tiny little custom PSU gives me 4hours juice on one set of batteries. The cage is Varavon, the rest of the rig is from Rhino Camera Gear. It very easily transforms from Handheld to tripod use without the need for a massive reconfiguration, It's easily one of the most practical rigs I've used for any camera system, I love it.

Yes, This is my BMCC Rig, I call it VINTRUSCAM after all, spent a lot of time designing & shaping this creature up to my personal needs & yet it's still not fully complete as I want her to be at the end, still need to add Mattbox, Wireless Video System & Wireless Follow Focus system.

Will post my updates in the near future for sure.

I took some photos of my gear last night, and since one was of a BMCC, I figured I'd post it.

Canon 16-35 f2.8LII, SmallRig handle and rails, Jag35 FF, SmallHD monitor, iShark slider, Induro Carbon tripod, and a cheapo Manfrotto head for when using the slider.

With Shoulder mount attached and the hand Grip mounted downwards it can be used as a semi Shoulder mount. Right Elbow leaning against belly holding hand grip. Left Hand Supports Camera on the follow focus.



Not on the picture are 4 cell 18650 Lithium Batteries that I use to add each roughly 80min of runtime to the internal BMCC battery.

...and that's right...the camera is powered by Dewalt power drill batteries

As unconventional as it may be, using the Dewalt batteries has proven to be incredibly easy and cost effective. For the one that I'm using in the picture, I can get around 4-5ish hours constant use. The cool thing is it is rated at 20v which the BMCC4K supports up to 30v so I'm good. When one dies, I just pull it from the mount and swap it out for another. I can show a detailed tutorial on how I wired the charger station to provide power to the camera if you would like to save a ton of $$$.

Last thing I have to do is get an actual cinema lens or something nice.
