Bad news: Lexar discontinuing its removable storage business

That came as a bad surprise out of nowhere for me, Lexar was one of the high quality manufacturers of removable storage. And less manufacturers means that price drops with CFast2.0 will slow down.
And Lexar is the only one offering 512GB cards at the moment.

yeah thats pretty bad. On the other hand, did we seen any pricedrops on cfast cards? Bought the Lexar 3400-256GB Cards back in 2015, price was 670 dollars each. Looking at the prices now for a 3600-256GB 670 dollars (:-).

Would have loved if BM had stayed with SSD's.

Transcend seems to have dropped their prices the most. Lexar has tended to remain more expensive. I was waiting for the Lexar 512 GB to drop below $1K. It's currently at $1,299.95. If you doubled the Transcend 256 GB price it would cost $920 for a 512 GB, so Lexar is charging a lot. I bought a Lexar 128 GB in late 2015 for $350, so Transcend has become the best priced option, and they're really good CFast 2.0 cards. I can rely on them for RAW 4.6K. Fingers crossed Transcend comes out with a 512 GB soon.

Tim, a better priced option than the Transcend would be the Angelbird CFast2.0 240GB cards.
https://www.angelbird.com/prod/avpro-cf ... ategory=79

The 240GB costs $399 at Adorama:
https://www.adorama.com/abap240cf.html

The 2 pack costs $774 ($387 per card) and the 4 pack costs $1,499 ($375 per card).

And Angelbird is a small company from Austria and manufactures in Austria.
