To be fair Grant said "probably June" but the slide said "June".

I was thinking with the Summer Sale that firmware 2.5 would be out. If anything I'd say once the sale ends the firmware should be available. After all, what better way to reward everyone who has recently bought the discounted Video Assists than to provide them with a new update.

I would've thought that a 30% discount was reward enough.

Loving the new scopes in v2.5

Has it been confirmed whether you can record at the same time as viewing the scopes?

I have some old Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s SD cards which worked with v2.4 to record proxy Prores. But have the cards now been blocked from being compatible, as they are now failing to record / format

Thanks

Internal Zebras from 90% - 100% never seem to show on the 4k video assist when receiving a film dynamic range signal from a 4.6k Ursa mini. Is this a bug?

With the waveform, what is the scale on the left? .1, .2, .3 etc?

Adding scopes was great, and I greatly look forward to using them, but you would have thought that adding the ability to give each unit a unique name and naming the files accordingly with some kind of a time stamp would have been a no brainer in comparison.

Is the problem that there is no touch screen keyboard in the VA OS? Then add it to VA Setup. The language is already set there.

Maybe next update?

BTW, I was able to record in HD while displaying scopes.

Hi Gene, you can name the monitor using the firmware update software if that's what you mean? not sure if this is recorded as metadata though?

Thanks for letting me know about the recording whilst viewing scopes

Jon, thanks for pointing that out. Now all BM needs to do is use that unit name with an appended time stamp when naming the files it writes to the media. If they want to put that in the metadata so much the better but just creating file names that identify the unit and time the file was created would be a great boon when using more than one VA in a shoot.

Awesome! I'm definitely going to test the scopes out on a commercial I'll be shooting in July. I hope everyone likes Ice Cream!

My understanding is that the VA5 is thought to not have enough processing power to support scopes. So no.
