Finger grease on the sensor on URSA mini pro!

PostThu Jul 06, 2017 7:25 am

I were filming yesterday morning with Ursa mini pro and when I were switching lenses a little kid with little fingers decided to take a look at the sensor and before I did see him the damage was done. Small finger grease on the sensor. I had to finish the job and the only thing I could thing of was using the ziess lens cleaning kit. First I used air to make sure there were no dust on the sensor, then I did use pre-solved wipes very carefully. I know it is not the right way to do it but I did not have any option. So my question is do I need to do another cleaning using another method to make sure there are no leftover from the ziess pre-solved wipes liquid?
I did send BM support this question yesterday and I am waiting for a answer. But if anyone can give a good recommendation on what I should do I would be thankful.

Don't worry Johannes!

I'd say buy 2-3 sensor swabs for APS-C.

With patience and a steady hand these will do the trick just fine! ;)

I had a tough to remove spot on a sensor and used the sensor swabs.. and a product called Lens-Clens from General Prodiction Services. It's an amazing lens cleaning solution. Use the pink version solution.

If you were using the Pro, he would have touched the ND filter instead of the sensor.

Yes, and any other BM camera it would have been the sensor cover glass, not the actual sensor.

Yes, like others have said, it's the ND or just plain IR filter. Hopefully that is clear and you know how your camera is put together, kinda important.

Anyways, I smudged mine with I installed the mask a few weeks ago. Just took a lens cloth and wiped it right off. These days I worry less about stuff like this and just get out and work. Easier on the soul than anguishing on it for days. Grab a brand new cloth and whip that sucker right off.
