Ursa Mini in low Fire Light

PostSat Sep 16, 2017 1:17 am

I've wanted to shoot something just purely for the visual aspect of it (there's some VO). Really excited with how they turned out, especially the low light firelight. Won't be done for a bit since there are some more things to shoot/reshoot.

(Different styles for each of the frames).
2 Different days.
Sigma 18-35mm at 18mm and (1.8 for the majority).

The 4.6k Note?
aIf you are not truthfully progressive, maybe you shouldn't say anything
bTruthful side topics in-line with or related to, the discussion accepted
cOften people deceive themselves so much they do not understand, even when the truth is explained to them

That is looking really good.

I went to the launch of the Panasonic EVA1 in L.A.
They had a movie with some scenes shot with fire light I am interested to see how they compare.

Note,

Great images! I was curious, are you using ACES color space in Resolve to CC this?

Thanks

NOTE: we were informed at the showing that this is the worst that the camera would ever look.
Meaning I guess that there is still work to be done before first release to market.

Production values like a feature. A short lesson in cinematography and editing. Just a little too sepia in the grading that masks the colour the EVA1 camera can capture and sucked the warmth out of that fire so the fire scene was the least satisfying for me. Actually not easy to judge the colour science with this one. Perhaps the first demo film of the dancer does that better but this is such a good short story well told! Congrats to Elle Schneider!

At the launch the movie was projected onto a large screen in a small movie theatre.
I think the point of the exercise was to see if a digital camera could produce an acceptable image with only a fire as the key source.
Colour is dependent on so many variables and can be arbitrary, exposure level either works or does not.
I felt that it was a brave experiment that will only be concluded in future updates.
As was promised.

Thanks, Leon. They certainly had an acceptable image if that was the goal.
