Blackmagic Micro Studio 4K & B4 ENG Lens (Digital)

PostMon Sep 18, 2017 2:12 am

Hi All,

apologies if this has been done to death, but I am struggling to get a clear picture:

We use the Blackmagic Micro Studio 4K and have had great results to date.

Now looking at putting a B4 ENG lens on this (wide angle, Fujinon AT2 Digipower).
Intending to use the MTF B4 to super 16/MFT adapter.

We need to remotely control zoom/focus/iris servos on this lens.

Queries:

- confirm that Micro Studio 4K actually has B4 lens control (digital) enabled as of today, via the RS-232 expansion port?

- has anyone successfully interfaced a digital B4 lens to the micro studio 4K via expansion port? Is there a COTS cable/adapter solution available for this, or is it roll your own (expansion port to RXD/TXD on the lens connector?)

- in addition to commands received over SDI input (ATEM switcher etc), will the camera pass lens control commands received via cameras SBUS input), zoom, focus, iris out via the expansion port, digital B4 lens interface)?

- has anyone done anything remotely like the above - good/bad results?

Thanks again!

Michael.

I think I've answered the first two points, yes the B4 digital lens control is activated and yes there is a cable available from blackmagic.

Appreciate any insights/comments on the later queries.

Thanks
