URSA 2k raw possible?

Hi folks,

Im the happy owner of the 2.5 k BMCC for a few years now. We shot an entire feature film on it. Now I like to upgrade to the URSA, it shoots 4k raw yes, but does can it shoot 2k raw in any way ? be course the storage of 4k raw is huge. Question two is or will there be an update for the sensor to 4.6 available soon?

Yes, I shoot raw 2K frequently. It’s one of the nine recording options you have.

Ah thank you rick , love to hear that ! is that just a setting in the menu to pick and is tha windowed or downscaled? I allready happy it has that feature , THANKS !

2k raw is windowed. You will probably appreciate compressed raw, big Ursa has 3:1, Ursa minis have 3:1 and 4:1 compression. I use 4:1 compressed 4,6k most of the time, it gives me about half an hour on a 256 Gb card.

John, if you want to shoot ProRes, then 2K can be a Window or it can be downscaled in camera from the full sensor 4608x2592 to give you much greater angle of view.

Thank you guys, so there is no way possible to shoot éK windowed raw at 4:1 on the big Ursa ? weird.

One more thing guys, no wane seems to mention the 2K raw in the menu file or specifications on the big Ursa, was that a software update or so?

Thank you Rick, for the moment I'm only in for Raw course I shoot epic film and I need the freedom of grading and ajustment in post. Yes it would be nice using the full frame sensor downscaled to 2K raw, gues windowed doesn't give that for now. But anyways the resolution of windowed is not a a big prob. What i do most now with my old BMCC is shoot on 2.5K raw , pull that in Da Vinci , grade and ajust and then render out to ProRess 4444, that gives me a smaller file that I can fine tune in Final Cut.
