Camera control 1.0 can’t set 120fps in 2k mode

Heads up to BM I reported this bug a couple months ago. When using the camera control app on the UMP, you cannot change the frame rate to 120fps in 2k mode. It will only go up to 60fps. If you use the camera to change the frame rate to 120fps, you’ll see the frame rate go up in the app. You just can’t change it to 120fps from the app. This happens on both the 4.4 and 4.5 software for the UMP

Donnell is there a control to turn On off-speed recording first? If so, then you may be able to set the off-speed frame rate to 120. Otherwise it won’t recognize 120 fps as a valid Project frame rate.

Hey rick, there’s only 1 options when it comes to using higher frame rates in the app The option “Sync” is on when you start the app and connect it to the UMP. When you double tap the sync button, which disables sync, takes you into off speed mode where you can set higher frame rates. In my case after sync is disabled you can set your frame rates from 12fps to ( well I hoped to 120FPS) It just does not go past 60fps in 2k windowed mode ..if I set it from the cam the you see the number go up in the app to 120fps.. you just can’t set it to 120fps from the app.

Thanks for the detailed description, Donnell. Hopefully they’ll also change the term ‘sync’ which sounds more like syncing a stills camera flash. They need to use the same terminology as the actual URSA Mini Pro firmware to improve clarity.

Shooting 'sync speed' or 'off-speed' are very common terms for referring to your frame rates in the motion picture world.

Oh my gosh rick.. I thought I was the only one that referenced “sync” to flash when I first saw it.. you’re a really smart guy, so now I don’t feel so stupid. Can’t blame me to much my first camera was a 7D.

My first SLR was a Nikon F 1964. Before then I used a simple box camera and then moved up to a Pentax camera loaned to me by my high school science teacher. Sync meant flash, but now I know what it means for cinematographers. Love learning this stuff!
