Tripods for UMP

PostWed Nov 22, 2017 1:41 pm

I am a new owner of a Ursa Mini Pro. I have always used Manfrotto sticks but find I need something heavier, with a center support, and likely with a ball that could go onto a Dana Dolly at some point. What are you using? What do you wish you were using?

I have a Sachtler FSB8 with Speed Lock 75 CF legs. It's close to it's limit with a fully rigged URSA Mini Pro. I'd say the FSB10 and a set of stick with a 100mm bowl would be a better bet.

Been using Sachtler's Flowtech 75 sticks for the past couple weeks and absolutely loving them. Light and fast.

For the price its hard to go past Miller.
Love their tripods and the service is outstanding.
Sachtler still make the best stuff, but not by much and its getting harder to justify the cost when Miller is so good.

I'm using the Sachtler FSB6.. but that is the limit. I cannot rig it with PL lenses and such. But I want a small and light rig anyway.

I use a Miller Compass 20 head, with Vinten Pozi-Loc legs. Very happy with the combination and the Miller head copes well with a fully rigged up URS Mini (Shoulder kit, V-lock battery, EVF, PL Lenses, Matte Box, LED Light, shotgun mic), but is light enough for travel.
