LOVING the URSA Pro but have a few major issues!

Hello folks I'm a working full time DP who usually uses Alexas and Reds. I was introduced to the Ursa and a couple months later I've shot half a dozen broadcast spots with it because I was so impressed.

I love the results.
Love the sensitivity. I shoot at 400 ISO all the time.
Personally, I think this camera is absolutely fine in low light. Not sure what all the complaints are about. Ursa has far less noise than Both RED or Alexa, IMHO.

What I do have issue is this and hopefully someone has answers here....
1. The REC 709 LUT sucks. Plain and simple. What can I do to improve? Built in LUT is crushed and overexposed.
2. Lots of Chromatic Abberation in footage. Has to be tracked and removed in post. Lenses are not the issue. using master primes.
3. Aliasing. Do you see it?
4. Mushy detail when zoomed in 200% compared to Alexa but just checking.
5Is there planned firmware upgrade for this camera?

It would help folks to answer if you were more specific about the camera you're using, URSA 4K, URSA Mini 4K, URSA Mini 4.6K or the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K - They're not the same.

I’ll take a stab at this assuming David has the new URSA Mini Pro 4.6K camera.

1) everyone agrees the included LUT for Rec.709 is a little over-baked. The solution can be to install any 3D 33x33x33 LUT of your choice. This may me something you purchase or you can create your own LUT in DaVinci Resolve and save it to a CFast 2 card and then load it into the camera. Remember though that custom LUT isn’t permanent so have it backed up on your computer to reinstall after firmware updates.

2) lenses create chromatic aberration, no? If you bought a new Pro, it may not have an additional baffle installed that addresses the rainbow or magenta and green flaring you may see at certain angles. The baffle is available for user install but the latest cameras Bay have it pre-Installed. Would need to see sample images to know what you’re seeing.

3) what resolution are you using? what exact codec? There is no OLPF filter over time he sensor so it may appear to show aliasing more than a camera that uses OLPF filters. For the same reason you may find moiré more evident especially with some synthetic materials like rayon

4) mushy? are you shooting a highly compressed ProRes? You may want to try uncompressed raw or ProRes 444 XQ 12bit

5) firmware updates are not pre-announced so you need to monitor the BMD Support webpage for firmware updates that apply to your camera. The numbering scheme for updates may be confusing as they sequentially increase but do not apply to all cameras. For example only to illustrate this:
4.4 URSA Mini 4.6K
4.5 URSA Mini Pro
4.6 missing in action
4.7 Micro Studio and Cinema Camera

Glad you’re enjoying the new camera. It’s quite different that what you are used to in many respects just as BMD is quite different as a company. Perhaps it’s all an acquired taste but after awhile the Kool-Aid tastes great! Best of luck.
