I'm not a CVP rep or deal with them, I'm ordering through Mediacast in the Middle East, put down an order for the 4k and pocket camera, I just found the link and found it to confirm my doubts, I was hoping it was not a late april fools joke, that would have started world war 3 hahah

Someone asked John how it compares to current models and he replied:

Obviously he won't break his NDA.. i would link to twitter but it's against forum rules. :)

lol I would die for it! Till 6K came along anyway.

maybe it's the MFT mount that Creative Video is advertising as a preorder? BMD banner didn't say anything about MFT.

According to slashcam.de this is probably the sensor the s35 model is using:
http://www.cmosis.com/products/standard ... s/cmv12000

You might also wanna know that the global shutter reduces the dynamic range visibly!

Put that passive MFT mount on the BMPC. We won't be able to use electronic Lumix or Olympus lenses, but who cares? with a global shutter there's no need for IS. Think of all the PL, M and other glass that will not be able to be used if they only have an EF mount for this camera.

I know S35 is too big for MFT lenses, but one of the charms of that mount is that it is so very versatile, and there are TONS of lenses in different mounts out there that can be adapted.

Do you guys think there is any hope?

BMD entered the list of companies that fully support the Micro Four Thirds format, so I'm a little hopeful.

I agree 100% there should be an MFT S35 in the works but only with a third party adapter of course.
Question is Will it be active? and by who and how much?

But no, I don't think it's possible :|

What kind of adapter, Darryl? The flange distance of the MFT system is very small, that's why it's so flexible. Is it possible to adapt MFT to anything that's not an E mount? (as idiotic as it may be). Sorry if my question is stupid, perhaps I'm just not reading you well :P

I'm pretty sure there will be another BMPC with a different mount, but I'm thinking it is gonna be a PL one (a la Cinema EOS line).

Fingers crossed for an MFT one, even if it is only passive.

Ok, call me crazy here, but is there any chance that this might be an Interchangable Mount System camera?
If you look closely, there is some kind of hard edge around the mount, as if it was "floating" on the body.
It looks to me as if it was detatchable. But, then again, why wouldn't BMD list it on the huge banner?

I think I'm just imagining things...

Hi guys, new here.
Was waiting on the 2.5K camera (didnt have pre-order)

How much better will these new cameras be in low light? Im not a technical guy.
on my 6D, at weddings I get pretty awesome results and would like to know if the new larger sensor will get it close to DSLRs in low light.

Also, is Super 35 full frame so my 50mm is 50mm on the new 4K camera?

Super 35 is still slightly smaller than Full frame I believe.

Interesting.. but what sensor is this? From the tech specs it sounds pretty much like it could be the CMOSIS CMV12000?

Have the CMV4000 right next to me, while global shutter is nice it has pretty limited dynamic range especially compared to the "current" BMC. To me this was exactly the selling point - the dynamic range and the IQ of the "current" BMC. Of course, higher fps and global shutter would be extremely nice - but if the pay off is just "normal" range/IQ... not this really nice organic feel the current sensor has... so yeah mixed feelings!

completely agree with you, Soeren. The dynamic range of the "V1 BMCC" and the color management became something I don´t want to miss anymore. Lets see tonight.

My only gripe is what is their obsession with Canon EF Mount? Haven't they learned people want to use PL and other types of lenses? My goodness it's like they almost gave you everything you wanted and then suddenly --"meh we will announce a better mount in October again."

The poster does say ef compatible not ef mount. So itll likely have a widely adaptable base.

Canon EF Mount on a S35 is what you want if you own Canon or Zeiss glass, IS is a notable feature
and worth it's weight in gold!

When you know people, you get things done, I stayed up all night to place my orders first thing this morning, I'm not saying anyone here couldn't get a pre-order in just as I did, but use your imagination.

Found this interesting on Hot Rod Cameras twitter feed:

"Big announcement from Blackmagic Designs in a few hours. HRC will also have one of our own :-)

For both current (or new) HRC Blackmagic Cinema camera customer this is good news!!"

I'm intrigued.

Any clue?

I hope BMD will have learned their lesson regarding sensor issues, flange distance issues, and production capacity. I still think it will probably take a while, late 2013 or so. I'm still hoping for some kind of trade-in/upgrade programme, though that might be a bit unrealistic.

My BMCC arrives tomorrow, that has not stopped me placing a pre-order for the 4K version with CVP :)
