Pocket Camera with EF lenses?

PostTue Apr 09, 2013 3:24 pm

Hi all - i am really interested in getting the pocket camera but seeing that all my lenses are EF (Canon: 50 1.8, 85 1.8, 70-200, Tamron 24-70, Samyang T1.5) i want to make sure I can use them. Can i use the speedbooster as an adapter to use my EF lenses?

As long as your EF lenses are manual, you can use them with a cheap adapter (<$50). If they require automatic aperture control, it gets tricky...

Regarding Speedbooster (fresh from their website):

When will m4/3 cameras be supported?

We apologize but the m4/3 schedule is slipping. Manual focus lenses such as Nikon, Leica R, Contax C/Y, Contarex, ALPA and Rollei will be supported in the second half of 2013.

Canon EF lens (but not EF-S) support is planned in the future, but we do not have an estimated date yet.

Thanks for the info! Would it be safe to say it will work with the samyang manual lense and a cheapo adapter for now?

I'm in the same boat. Have all electronic EF glass but would LOVE the pocket camera.
Unfortunately, the only adapter that I know of is the Redrock one, but it's $600 (more than half the price of the damn camera!).

There are cheap dumb EOS to M43 adapters with built in aperture, like this:

It doesn't work perfect for every lens as far as I know, but they come in various price ranges. From cheap no name china brands to Kipon and expensive Novoflex.

I heard mostly bad things about those, though.... as in "big $$$" and drawbacks in image quality (vignetting and such). It's all second hand though...

I'm going with Samyang/Rokinon + cheapo-adapter

Unfortunately for those of us with a large collection of EF glass, this isn't really a viable option.
There's got to be some converter out there that converts the electronics in the MFT to the electronics in the EF that isn't $600.
