Firmware Updates - Jumping versions okay, or need to do all?

I tried to search the forum for this answer, but since the words "firmware update" are too common, my search was blocked.

When it comes to updating firmware for the URSA Mini cameras, is it okay to skip versions -- e.g. 4.0 to 4.9 -- or does one need to install all of them in sequence?

For the the Ursa Mini, and all BM camers, installing 4.9 will update the camera to its specific latest firmware, no need to go back and install an earlier version first. If if your Ursa Mini 4.6 Camera is at 3.X, installing 4.9 will update it to 4.8, the latest FW for a UM 4.6. Likewise, if your Camera is a UM 4K, installing 4.9, will upgrade it to 4.9. The 4.9 updste includes the latest FW updates for the various BM cameras.
Cheers

That's great to know. My UM4K is still at the factory-installed 4.0 version, which has been working fine for me. None of the previous UM4K updates seemed to include anything I needed, so I preferred to just keep it happy with 4.0 -- "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

But the 4.9 upgrade is a welcome one. I applaud BMD for being able to get this camera working with SSD module. However, my main interest is the reduced latency, so this is one I will definitely be updating.

Don't forget, 2 extra stops of DR as well, bringing it upon to spec with the 4.6K!

Not sure where you've gotten that information. It wasn't listed in the updates for 4.9.

I doubt such a change would even be possible on the URSA Mini 4K with just a firmware update.

Okay, I found out where Dave got confused.

Camera Setup 4.7 contained an update for the Micro Studio Camera 4K that, "improved sensor exposure sensitivity by 2 stops."

This does not apply to the URSA Mini 4K.
