Video Assisk 4K SD Card Rollover Question

PostWed Jan 17, 2018 9:35 pm

It's clear the Video Assist can start recording on Card A and when it's full switch over to Card B, but after Card A fills and it's switched to Card B, can I replace Card A with an empty formatted card and if I do, will the recorder switch back to Card A when Card B fills up?

This isn't documented. The user manual only states it will transition from A to B, but not back to A.

Anyone know?

I found one review on the device on a site that seemed to imply it will roll over onto a 3rd card, but when it finished recording to the 3rd card (60 minute mark) the recorded started acting wonky and froze up.

Has anyone had any experience recording 4K video to more than 3+ cards using rollover?

That would be quite disappointing so I wonder if there was a different problem. Certainly the cameras can record until the cows come home by using the alternate card when the current card is full given you have enough camera formatted cards to swap.

I can confirm that the Video Assist 4k does switch from card1 to card2 and back to card1 when card2 is full. It recorded for just over 2 hours today. I discovered a great feature while doing this. I was not sure if the second card I put into slot 1 was formatted but I was already recording. It turns out I can format one card while it records on the other card.
