Ursa ssd

PostTue Feb 27, 2018 12:30 pm

Hi,

I have an Ursa Mini 4.6 on version 4.8.

My ssd recorder is attached as per the manual.

Both the sdi cables are plugged in.

The ssd recorder amber sdi warning light is showing.

The camera doesn’t recognise either the cfast card or any ssd. Both cfast cards and ssd’s Are on the recommended list

Everything worked fine the last time I had the camera out 10 days ago

Please help!

Just to check ;) Have you put the SDI cables in the right order?

Yes the cables have embossed labels on them- plus it worked last week and it’s stored connected and docked ready to go.... so not sure why it’s not working anymore. And it won’t recognise any of my cfast cards either....

Sounds like a camera issue, time to contact BM Support.
Cheers

Looks like that’s the way to deal with it. Shame it’s going to be out of action for a bit

Thankfully I still have the C100 mk2 to get me through

Ehm 4.8?
I read that you have used last time, but I remember something about ursa mini 4.6 and more are enabled from 4.9 to use ssd recorder?

Carlo, 4.9 added support to the Ursa Mini4K, 4.8 is the update for the Ursa Mini 4.6. So I do not think this is the problem. But it would not hurt to reinstall the FW with 4.9 to see if that makes a difference, the 4.9 Updater will just reinstall the 4.8 FW, if there was a change, I n the Mini 4.6 or say the camera is up to date, if not.

Just in case anyone else has a problem the solution is:

1)put the camera back in the pelican case for three days
2)try unsuccessfully each day
3) try to roll back to the last firmware , although this won’t run on your MacBook Pro for undisclosed reasons
4) re install v5. Plug both camera and ssd recorder in.
5) read and ignore the message saying it’s all up to date
6) randomly turn it on and off again several more times- ignore any info on the camera saying it’s verifying the cfast card (continually)
7) it will randomly recognise both and work ok again somehow

Sorry to be a bit cheeky- I think there must be a gremlin in the firmware somewhere

Having said all of that...

It is now giving me false information on recording times available. An in camera formatted ssd of 250gb can now hold 131 minutes of 4.6k raw lossless. And a staggering 5 hours if I go to 4:1.... doesn’t seem to change if I switch to prores- any resolution or recording option is overstated. Confused
