BMCC 4K Battery goes to 10% instantly when unplugged

PostThu Mar 22, 2018 8:05 am

Hi all,

Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct place. We have been struggling with this issue for quite some time. What is occurring is that whenever the camera is taken off of mains power, the battery instantly drops to 10% then the camera shuts off 30 seconds later. It is very frustrating because even if the 12v adaptor slips out or loses connection even for a moment while filming a scene, the camera switches off and we have to call for another take :( Has anybody else encountered this issue? If, so has anybody been able to remedy it? Thank you for your help. Cheers.
Kind Regards,

The battery could potentially be replaced by your regions support office so that this isn't an issue for you going forward. You can find contact information on the support page of the website.

I have this same issue, and I believe it has corrupted several of my SSD drives. I now always use the Blackmagic Video Assist as a backup recorder in case of SSD corruption.

When viewing previously recorded clips, my BMP4K will drop to 10% whether or not it's plugged into a power source.

My personal experience shows that the Li-Ion batteries require full charging and full discharging in order to operate properly (Exactly as NiCd do). Remove the battery and make 2-3 charge and discharge cycles with minimal current with a specialized battery tester. Minimal discharge current is critical to fully discharge the battery. Don't discharge below 3.0v/cell! My one is SkyRC 6x80Plus.
