Pocket Camera laugh

While shooting a promotional piece for a private school:

A kid looks at my camera. It is on rails with the usual cast of characters and cables dangling about.
"Did you make that camera?", he asked.

I was mildly offended. "No!"

"Oh, it looks homemade"

On my way home that slight turned into a bit of wishful thinking. Make the camera - if only I could.

My guess is that a DSMC or Alexa Mini would look even more homemade to that kid - both essentially look like boxes with a lens in the front and a bunch of cables connecting them to other boxes attached to them :)

There are home made digital cameras. But if you want, there are camera kits based on various embedded board standards, like Arduino.
