Strange Blue Hue on BMCC Image in RAW

PostTue Apr 16, 2013 1:05 pm

Anyone else have this problem on their BMCC? I shot a scene with my kids in both RAW and ProRes to see how much of a difference there would be after post. I used a Sigma 14 2.8 at 1600 ISO/ASA. When I loaded them up, this is what I got. I noticed others had a shift at high ISO, but only in 1/3rd of their image - this is the entire image. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Weird. No, I don't have this problem.

Can you share a DNG with us?

You could use something like imageshack or a file sharing site and link the file maybe?

Thanks Neil. Image Shack does not support DNG's, but I think File Factory does (see link above).

Everything looks fine to me too. Does it have the blue hue when you play it back in the camera?

@ TZuck & justinsch - Yes, it can be adjusted in post, but the question is why is it coming out of the camera that way. I did not try playback in the camera (unfortunately, I do not have it with me right now).

*EDIT - I feel so dumb right now. For some reason, the preview on my mac is showing the blue and when I hit the space bar to open the quick view, it is blue (what I took a screen shot of). When I open it in Photoshop RAW, it looks fine. I am embarrassed :)

BMCC is ok, Apple OS was the problem here...

Don't feel dumb, it's actually just preview showing you the raw DNG white balance, exposure, etc.

If you go outside during the daylight hours, set your white balance to Tungsten, then open the file in viewer you'll get the same thing.

That's just how Preview works. >.< Doh.

Now ya know! have fun
