BMPCC4K vs BMPC

PostWed Apr 11, 2018 4:01 pm

This seems like a no brainer to me, but I've had the production camera since its release. After looking at all the specs of the 4K pocket camera, I'm thinking about selling my production camera and pre ordering the 4k pocket. The only thing I would miss is the global shutter. Does it seem like a great upgrade choice in comparison? I say yes, but I could be overlooking some details. What do you guys think?

Brian, I don't have a BMPC, but I'd say that if you intend to sell yours and want to get the best price, you better do it fast.

You are going to loose the GS, but the new Pocket has a fairly faster sensor readout time to reduce RS issues. The sensor is also slightly smaller, but a Speed Booster will bridge the gap.

You are going to gain, more DR, and better low light capability, the newer color science, and Ursa Mini Pro OS and menu system. So I would say the gains will outweigh the losses.
