Why is DNxHR not supported in camera

PostWed Apr 11, 2018 8:10 pm

Hey all,

I see ProRes is an option, as is CinemaDNG whic is awesome. But unless I am missing something, DNxHR is... today... a better cross platform format with near identical quality/file size as ProRes without the license costs. DNxHR also works better on linux and windows, where ProRes seems to be clunky at best and requires quicktime (or has that changed). With the new ProRes RAW, I am hoping a DNxHR RAW comes about (if it doesnt exist yet).

Anyway, just wondering why it is not an option to use in camera? On my Atomos Inferno I can use DNxHR or ProRes. Seems like it wouldnt be difficult to have that as an option so that all 3 platforms can have an equally smooth workflow to work with.

I also see a lot more people requesting DNxHR now than ProRes.
