BMMSC with B4 Lens

PostThu Apr 12, 2018 10:38 pm

Hi everybody,

I would like to have advice on how to remotely control focus / iris / zoom of B4 optics (I already have the adapter to connect it to the camera), considering that the Lanc does not work.
The alternatives left, are sBus or SDI (in this case, I think the shield Arduino would be ideal).

Thank you

You got the Arduino Shield or a ATEM, to control a new digital HD B4 lens, which is controlled via the SDI input to the camera. The SBus and Lanc are for camera and MFT lens control, not B4 lenses.
Cheers

Focus and Zoom on B4 lenses normally controlled by the camera operator..

Zoom by a zoom remote..
Focus by hand.. Or if you have a really nice lens there is a focus motor on it.. But then again with a focus remote..
Iris by the camera..

Only if you have a HD Digital lens.. You can control this with a special cable from BMD.. (Sub-d > 12pin B4 connector) But this will only work on Digital B4 lenses.. And they cost in the Ballpark of $14.000

Check the manual for the 6 or 7 lenses that are supported by the BMMSC to run digital control of the lens.

Daniel, spot on, forgot, the Micro required digital B4 lens for CCU control.
As for the 12-pin Remote on other Zoom lenses, this works well for the camera person, iris should still be controllable from CCU I would think.

If anyone is interested I have several B4 lens remotes available to control zoom and focus with zooms that have a Focus Servo. Send a PM for info.

Thanks at all...

Someone know if Arduino Due is compatible with the blackmagic shield?

no it is not.. The shield is only 5V compatible.. Your Arduino Due is 3.3V and will fry.
