Colour Science Versions

PostSat Apr 14, 2018 12:04 pm

Hi

How do you find out which Colour Science version is running on your BMD camera, hardware or software?

I believe Resolve 15 has the latest, which is version 4 and the Pocket camera also has this. Grant Petty at NAB said the rest of the product line and cameras will also be updated to the latest colour science at some point.

Thanks
G

According to Capt. Hook, The original cameras were color science 1 (BMCC, BMPCC, BMPC4K)
The Ursa Mini series is Ver 3
The new Broadcast camera is Ver 4, along with the new PC4K.

What version of color science is the Big URSA V1 and V2?

Does this determine which BM film to Rec709 LUT to choose or what to go from in the "Color space transform" to get the most true colors?

If I understood it correctly, it will be the same as the BMPC4K which is version 1.
URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2, Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, Panasonic GH5
PC Workstation Core I7 64Gb, 2 x AMD R9 390X 8Gb, Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Mini Monitor, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Resolve Studio 18, BM Micro Panel & Speed Editor
