Ursa Mini 4.6k Camera Control App Shutter increments

PostFri Apr 20, 2018 6:09 pm

Is there a way, via the Camera Control App, to toggle the shutter angle by 1 degree increments?

I'm wanting to capture a motion controlled time lapse of a sunset, and want to slowly (by 1 degree increments over an hours time) increase the shutter angle to allow more light into the camera as the scene darkens.

Right now, I only see a way to tap the arrows (up/down) which adjusts the increments 270, 324, 360, etc.
And trying to slowly bring the shutter up/down via the "knob" isn't accurate at all as it jumps 10 degrees each way as you touch the screen.

Thanks :)

I do not think smooth shutter angle changes are possible on the UM. You could use a non-click iris controlled lens, and change the f/stop to compensate, sunset change of light is faster than a 1-degree shutter change, so adjusting the iris would be more accurate.

Thanks for the response Denny.
The problem with adjusting the aperture, is that it has an effect on the depth of field and focus. DSLR's get away with sunset time lapses by increasing the shutter speed to allow more light after the sun has set.

I can adjust the shutter angle one degree at a time... but it's very, very difficult to do by hand. I was hoping perhaps I had missing a setting to allow single degree increments instead of the massive jumps when you hit the "arrow" buttons.

Thanks, again :)

In the camera menu you can double tap the shutter value and then you get an input field where you can type in shutter angles in 0.1 degrees. Maybe the same is possible in the app?
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

OK, but when you shoot a sunset, you normally are at inf., and unless you have a flow foreground object/subject, DoF would not be an issue either. But follow what yiur are trying to do.

The Micro cameras have an auto shutter angle exposure compensation, but I do not think the Ursa Mini has.

Robert, unfortunately double tapping on the App does nothing... I wish it did, for that would absolutely solve it.

Thanks

Exposure for darkest point and variabile nd on lens to manage Light?
I know is not comfortable, but could be a solution.
My indyfocus (follow focus) have Rubber gear that could be used with variable nd ring to rotate smoothly and precisely.

Something like that can be done with Cinefade, even if it's normally used to rack DOF while keeping exposure constant: https://nofilmschool.com/2016/08/rack-d ... efade-tool
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.
