Got a job filming a hunting show.

PostFri Apr 19, 2013 4:52 am

Untill I can get a pocket camera I was wondering if anybody had an idea of how to rig the ef model in a way to both get good shots distant and close as well as a bit of audio without setting off a reflection to scare away the game. I was thinking of throwing a net over the camera and using a wireless lav mic with my h4 and a 17-55 zoom. Unless anybody knows of a bmcc shooting case that I can operate it out of while covering the metalic body?

Normally you'd get a blind and just hide out in there for you/camera. Also perhaps swathing it in dueve or something; but keeping the cooling ports un-ubstructed.
For audio, you're not want a lav, normally, unless you know where the game will be (feeing trough or something) but rather some very sensitive hypercardoids.

Unless you're trying to set this up like some kind of camera trap sans- op?

edit:: miss read a bit--

--assuming you're working with hunters, maybe work on making a guillie suit for the camera?
Wireless lav to talent would also work fine.
I'd maybe not go to an h4N.. syncing could be a problem....

As for camera-- look into teleconverters.

though in truth; this may not be the right camera for that type of job. I'd probably much rather want to be on a shoulder-mount eng rig normally. Less to worry about; run audio into camera, good lenses, recording to tapes so no need to bring laptop along (or disks on some of the XDCams).

The other option is to get the black raincoat from Porta Brace for the BMCC. It is big enough to contain a small mixer attached to the camera.

24-70 does not have IS. 17-55 and 24-105 do have IS.

I'm sorry ungovernedreason, No disrespect intended, I just found humor in your request,
I need to stop this madness, I'm not sure how or when... but I promise I'll try not to be funny at any one persons expense ever again.
