Ursa Major & Stabilizer (Gimbals, Steadicams) ?

PostSun Jun 24, 2018 1:05 pm

Hello people,

Im currently a big Ursa owner, and thinking about stabilizing my shots. Found out due to the Ursa´s weight that its hard to find suitable and not crazy expensive stabilizers, so I went with a Laing M30P steadicam for short term as I heard it was one of the better ones of the cheap china brands (came-tv, etc)

Now I wonder if anyone has used any gimbal systems for the URSA major? DJI Ronin for sure wouldnt take it, and I suspect the bigger Movi wouldnt work either? What about Ronin 2, is it still to big? Anyone actually used stabliizer for their URSA, if so what brand?

What stabilizer are you using?

Thanks in advance!

I agree with Kim.

It would be more affordable to get something like the new BM Pocket 4K with a small gimbal. You could probably get both for around $2k, presuming you already have suitable lenses.

The URSA major is a really really big boy. It's not a cheap process at all. As others said, use a B cam.

It'll be cheaper AND safer.

Ronin 2 will probably work.

But you'll need a vest and an arm like the Serene. And some body-building!
All in all, not cheap. I'd opt for rental or the B-cam solution as suggested above.
