Ursa Mini Pro Randomly Powers On

PostMon Aug 20, 2018 7:18 pm

I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet, but I’ve noticed that my Ursa Mini Pro will power itself on randomly when a v-mount battery is connected and the power switch is off. Switching the power switch on and then back off will turn it off temporarily. But after a bit it will boot up again.

Has anyone come across this? Firmware is up to date.

Yes, mine does that as well. I have narrowed it down to the bluetooth. It's doesn't randomly power on if the bluetooth is off. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with being connected to an iPad with the app installed or not, I haven't tested that out.

Obviously, both your cameras are being used in a network with 187,000 other devices to mine crypto currencies while you’re getting coffee on your shoots. In the old days we used to be safe when the actual range of Bluetooth was your desk to your bed (where one does their best work). Nowadays it’s a different story. That’s one reason I waited for the URSA Mini 4.6K instead of grabbing the URSA Mini Pro. People thought I was crazy to pass up on the Pro for the 4.6K, but I just didn’t trust something with so many buttons.

Rick, you're going to cost me my lens money telling this kind of secret!

OP, I'd probably contact support just in case this is a known issue to them.

Sincerely sorry, Jack. I never suspected it would hurt anyone I knew. I owe you!

Yes, the UMPro and Broadcast Cameras have a software power on and off, in addition to the physical switch, that is Bluetooth controlled.
Rick, I think you are on to something...
Cheers

Thanks Bearallison,
It has to be related to the Bluetooth as you mentioned. I recently setup my iPad and tested the Bluetooth functionality and since then have had the camera power up on its own. I turned off Bluetooth and the camera stays turned off. I called into BMD to report this as a possible firmware bug.

Just need to remember to turn off Bluetooth when I’m done with it!

I dont know if this help you but for me the solution was to send the camera in BMD services. You can see at this linkhttps://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=58875 more details.
