Though it's not RECOMMENDED for non-raw footage, it's not going to do you any harm to try it; and if it looks good, then why worry? It's not like it will damage your footage or anything like that.
Odds are however, it will deliver a nicer look when you apply it to raw footage, and probably give you better results straight out of the camera when you use it on cameras that have been updated with color science v4 also.
There's absolutely no reason that you should NOT try it, just don't get your expectations up; just understand that sometimes the results might be wonky.
