I finally got a chance to watch Philip Bloom's excellent review, and saw him using the ND's on the outdoor shoot. It seems to me the only reason to use them would be to try and achieve a shallower depth of field. It also appears that to use them properly you'll need a field monitor so you don't have to fight the reflection off of the BMCC display. It also seems that because you can't currently tell what your aperture is set at electronically, you won't be able to recreate perfectly a shot, especially outdoors when you are adding on an ND (and of course the normal issues like the light changing).
