Shoulder rig question for Pocket 4k.

PostThu Oct 04, 2018 9:54 pm

Can someone tell me if the battery door on the BMPCC 4k is the same distance from the tripod mounting point as it is on the old Pocket CC? I'm looking at a shoulder rig made for the old PCC that has a slot to access the battery and want to be sure it will accommodate the new camera. It's made by Ikan and I can pick it up for about $100, so that's attractive to me.

Just measured this:

From the middle of the mounting point to the slot the distance is 61 mm. The door opens up a bit wider, so 60 mm would be the safe distance.

Thanks. I don't have either camera, is that the same distance as the other camera?

Sorry, I've no idea about the old pocket. But the new one has more width so I guess it might be different.

Yeah, it seems the extra width is on the other side of the lens, but whatever, I'll figure it out. Thanks!

I'm hoping the Ikan rig for the old BMPCC will work for the new BMPCC4k, as far as battery door lining up in the same spot.

Sold my Pocket Camera last year, so I do not remember the exact length of the door to 1/4x20 mounting point.
But you have the Ilan rig, and a
Robert gave you the new Pocket camera distance, just measure the distance from the center of the 1/4x20 mounting point and see if it fits, compared to the measurement Robert gave.

I am thinking of using the edelkrone shoulder kit with the new Pocket also, and hoping the Micro Camera baseplate/Rod kit from Wooden Camera will work with the new Pocket also. Battery door being the issue here also.

Ah, there's the rub, I don't have it yet, I want to make sure it fits before I buy. Maybe I'll ask the seller or manufacturer.

I just measured the Wooden Camera Quick Release Pocket Camera base plate, it has about 24-30mm from mounting point to battery door cut out., so 60mm will more than clear the base plate, even without the cutout. I used this plate on both my old Pocket and my Micro Cinema camera, worked for both.

The edelkrone rig camera baseplate will also clear.

Thanks Robert for the measurement.
