BMPCC4K REVIEW - 10 Days with the camera

PostSun Oct 07, 2018 1:57 pm

So I decided to do a quick review after using the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 4K for 10 days.

This is my impressions of the camera, what I like and don’t like about it.
I will do a proper review once I have shot a lot more with it in maybe a month or so but this might give you a good idea of how it is to shoot with it and might answer some of your questions.
This is also a good way to explain briefly what kind of work we do and why we bought this camera in the first place.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions about anything.

Just so you know this is my first ever review, so be nice haha :).

Cheers,
Florent

Hey Florent,

Very nice review. Pretty comprehensive and very honest assessment of the camera. I shoot PreRes 422 most of the time as you do. Did you shoot 4k60p in 422 on the Samsung SSD? Did that work?

Many of your sample clips in the review video look like they would be very easy to match with the original Pocket camera. Seeing more videos now that have that cinematic mojo. Thanks for your efforts here, Florent.

Thanks a lot Adam.

I really love Prores 422, and yes it worked. Although I would most likely use the Cfast for that and keep the SSD for RAW maybe or when shooting Prores for super long periods of time.

Thanks Rick, and no worries.

Yes despite what people are saying about this camera I still personally think it looks very cinematic, might just require slightly more work than the original Pocket to achieve that look.
