PostThu Oct 11, 2018 8:34 am

These are all the parts to my P4K (easier to write than BMPCC4K all the time!) review. Hope they are of use to people!

Part 1: https://www.redsharknews.com/production ... aiting-for

Part 2: https://www.redsharknews.com/production ... io-and-hfr

Part 3: https://www.redsharknews.com/production ... ma-cameras

And some of the test footage I took.

P4K review

Thank you very much for your efforts on our behalf, Simon.

Edit
Simon just noticed at 2’28” you have an error in the caption I think:
ISO 400 pushed to ISO 1000 Exp +4.00...

Great review!

Simon, could you tell us what tripod and head you're using? I also do video in remote places and am not very happy with my current travel tripod so plan to get a new one next year. The one you're using looks like it might be perfect.

Thanks Brad!

I wish I could recommend the tripod I've been using for this, but I hate it! My main video tripod is too heavy to carry around in remote areas, and the one I have been using for this test is passable, but I need to change it. I've been looking at some of the Gitso models, but haven't decided yet.

Exactly the same boat! I am happy with my main video tripod and head, but my travel tripod is really designed for stills; the video head is okay but I miss having the ball-and-paddle leveling adjustment...having to get things level by adjusting the legs gets tedious, especially if you're moving around a lot.

I’ll be looking at the Manfrotto BeFree carbon fiber:

There are less expensive options.

There's that Lumapod dealie that I sent in a preview of... I'm hoping to get early access to a production model... hopefully I'll HAVE a Pocket 4K to plunk on it, and then I'll be able add some silly clickbait by comparing it to a Hydrogen One and include some swim suit models.

Rick, I have a similar Manfrotto carbon tripod that has an option to add a centering head mount, that works like a cine Video Head, with the leveling adjustment ball head style, but takes the flat mount standard heads. This replaces the center post, so yiu loose thst extension bit, but yiu csn convince in leveling the head quickly.
Cheers

Ok, but don't forget to shoot everything in slow motion and to put an epic score under it. And slap an ugly teal-orange LUT onto it with washed out blacks and clipped highlights!
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

I almost forgot those clichés! Thanks for the reminder ;)

By the time I get all the clichés in there, no one will have any idea which camera was which!
