[RESOLVED] B&H charging, but not shipping?

PostSat Oct 13, 2018 1:36 pm

Since the first week of October. B&H has charged for it and claims to be "processing", but isn't shipping and can't explain where the camera is and can't even confirm they actually have it in stock for this order (it's definitely not in stock for new orders).

Anyone else in this situation?

I think it depends how you pay. If you use a credit card directly with them I think it won’t be charged until shipping. If you use a third party system like google, apple or paypal I think it gets charged right away.

Edit: Sorry, after rereading your post it sounds like you probably placed a preorder a while ago and it started processing and then hasn’t gone anywhere? Not sure what would be the issue there.

If you check with your credit card account, it will probably also state "processing". No payment is actually due from you. You won't be required to pay the credit card company until the camera actually is shipped.

The credit card *was* charged and payment is due for the next cc closing period.

B&H's usual policy is to charge only when the item is in stock and they prepare to ship. But that's the point: they record that the item is in stock, and it's "processing", but they're not shipping and can't account for what's happened. "Problems at the warehouse" is the best I've been able to do.

(For the record, I'm not claiming they're trying to cheat me. They're not crooks.)

That sucks. Mine processed and shipped yesterday without incident.

I'm sure they'll either find it, or reverse the charges.

I ordered in May, was charged right away and it still hasn’t shipped yet. I’m not surprised, but I expect it late Oct/early Nov (being able to test it during Halloween would be cool)

Just to cap this one, got a tracking number this morning from B&H. Only fair to say so, even if it's not likely to be of general interest....

I don't recall exactly, but I think it was the day after it was available to pre-order. My card was not charged until it shipped.

Just curious, how did you pay for your pre-order? Generally they authorize payment, so it looks like it was charged, but that transaction comes off the credit card within a few days. I'll actually get charged when the camera ships.
