URSA 4K V2 Sensor - SSD choices for 3:1 RAW @ 120fps

PostSun Oct 14, 2018 12:16 pm

Hi all. Searched for an answer for this on the forum but wasn't able to find anything definitive.

I currently use the original URSA with the upgraded V2 sensor to shoot slow motion footage @ 100fps (PAL region over here). I'm using CFast to SSD with Samsung 850 EVO drives, as at the time the 850 PROs didn't come in 2TB & 4TB sizes which is what I need for the volume we can shoot on a daily basis.

The drives tested fine shooting ProRes LT to one drive or 3:1 RAW to dual drives and they've worked great since without dropping frames at those data rates, but I've now got a project where I'll need the full 120fps which they can't handle.

Does anyone have first hand experience shooting 4K 120fps directly to SSDs in either ProRes or compressed RAW? Happy to buy two 860 PROs and run tests for myself but hoping someone may have already tried it out?
